Daniel Bedwell was appointed in August 2011 to the 10 member South Eastern Queensland Regional Disability Advisory Council established by Queensland Government to represent the needs of people with a disability their families and carers which will play a key role in the Governments 10year strategic plan for disability.

Daniel has more than 18 years experience in the design profession and for the past 14 years has specialized on the accessibility requirements of the Built Environment in both Australia and Europe. His global work has enabled him to possess an in-depth knowledge of current best practice implementation and benchmarking gained over a wide range of projects in both Hemispheres.

Daniel established the practice Obvius Access in Australia in 2008 and for the past seven years has established a reputation for adopting a balanced approach to each particular type of project he has been commissioned for.

Daniel personally welcomes enquiries from individual persons as he believes personal contact in each case achieves the best outcome.

In addition Daniel can bring added value to project Design Teams by nature of his early conceptual accessibility evaluations which are based upon his extensive knowledge and progressive logic.

After leaving Cambridge University Department of Estate Management, he Established the Professional Building Services Engineering Practice that today still trades under his name. Major Groundbreaking Project Concepts included the First Leonard Cheshire Purpose Built Home the design concepts for which established original criteria for Premises and Equitable Access for persons with Disabilities in the 1970's see article at www.accessconsultant.com.au

John has worked in the Construction Industry for over 30 years and has worked on prestigious projects in the UK the Channel Islands Europe and Australian States. He is currently Operational Director of Disabled Access at the Sydney Office of Obvius Access.  
For the past 20 years John has worked almost exclusively in NSW and in particular on various projects within the Sydney CBD  
John is an Accredited Member of the Association of Consultants in Access Australia 382.  He holds the CPP40811 Certificate IV in Access Consulting, London City and Guilds Advanced Certificate in Building Services having studied academically at Cambridge College of Arts and Technology and Tresham College Northampton over a 5 year period successfully qualifying in 1988  
He is an active and regular contributor of technical and advocational articles to various publishers worldwide to advance the Obvius Access Company mission. To increase the worldwide awareness of the need to substantially increase the recognition of the lack of equality that exists for People with Disabilities. The desired outcome of which is to achieve the facilitation of equitable integrated communities in every social and business aspect which will go a long way to reducing discrimination.  
In particular John is a prolific writer and advocate for Changeability in Sydney.
